Toe jam football.

I’ve just always wanted to give a post that title.

This morning at 10:30am, I went into the foot-doctor to get my ingrown toenail cut off. They stuck two needles worth of numb-stuff into the top of my toe (whooo-eee) and after I could still feel him digging in, he stuck another needle in the underneath of my toe (yyyyeeeaaawww!) but I was a good little girl and I held together, didn’t shed a tear, though I was sweating a bit and almost thought I was going to throw up there for a minute…they asked me if I wanted to be reclined so I didn’t have to watch, and I said no I’m fine, and they said we’ll recline you so you can’t watch anyway; and picture this, so I’m laying in this chair, and since they have reclined me when I told them not to, I could see under the magazine I was holding, so I had to hold the bottom of it up against my boobs the whole time so I couldn’t see what they were doing. The girl helping the doc came out with about seven rolls of medical cloth tape, all pretty colors, and said, “What color you want?” Yippee. I don’t give a shit. lol But I picked light blue, because it’s Rain’s favorite color, and I figured she’d get a kick out of it. So I had worn heels to the doctor’s office, not really thinking about it, and I’m walking out of the medical building with a big gay blue paper bootie on one foot, and my heel on the other one… click-thunk, click-thunk… I called my boss and told him I was going home to get some sandals. I get home, and I’m thinking I’m going to slip into the garage, grab my sandals right by the back door and leave… but nooo, they’re working on the alley behind my house this week–so I had to park in front of my house and walk up the steps in hospital bootie and stocking foot (by this time I had completely given up and shed both shoes). After rummaging around the house and finding a sandal, I headed out to lunch and then back to work. Oh it’s not bad right now–I can’t feel anything–but the doc said in about six hours when it starts to wear off, it might not be fun. And of course I have to work late tonight. Yay.

No photos, and I’m at work.

Rainlin ready for soccer So today was supposed to be my first day ever of taking “professional sports photos.”

It rained.

Scott was nice enough to offer to take Rain to her 8am soccer game (okay, I asked him to and he said yes, bless him). Course any of you that know me know I can’t sleep past 8am, so it didn’t really do a whole lot of good. The weather was very overcast, but not raining yet. After they came home from Rain’s game, all four of us went to Build-a-Bear to get a birthday present for a party we were going to later in the day. The kids made a little birthday teddy bear (well okay, it was a puppy), and the lady at the register gave me these two little free build-a-bear radios. They were cheapy, but hey–free is free. When we got in the car, Scott put the batteries in them and such, and the kids thought they were the coolest thing. We got about a block away from Build-a-Bear, though, and Rainlin’s headphone broke. I felt so bad for her… I whipped the car around, and Scott ran in with it and got a replacement. The kids LOVE those little radios–sometimes it’s amazing the simple things that keep them occupied.

So around 12pm I was supposed to do Dylan’s little friend’s team pictures. Around 11, as we were leaving the Build-a-Bear area, it started to spit rain. I thought about it for a minute, then called the mom on the team I knew. I know the games haven’t been cancelled yet, I said, but I want to reschedule pictures. They won’t come out their best, and I don’t want to deliver to your team pictures that can’t be their best. She said she understood, and we tentatively talked about Thursday afternoon. I hung up the phone with her and wondered if I had done the right thing. This whole picture thing is nerve-wracking sometimes! As we drove home, it started spitting harder and harder; and when I got home, I logged into the soccer website; all games were then cancelled for the rest of the day. Scott said I made a good call, and I felt a lot better about it.

So we farted around the house for the next hour or so then headed to Costco for a few groceries. Lunchables, the one thing I headed out there for in the first place, is of course the one thing we forgot to buy. I got paged by work (I’m on call this week), and we headed home with our groceries. Luckily the work thing ended up not being a big deal.

The birthday thing was at a pizza place that has small indoor rides and a huge indoor climbing playground area. The kids love it–the parents tend to hate it. We all had a good time, and it was nice to spend time with friends. The little girl squealed when she opened her birthday puppy. I saw Rainlin smile at that.

After the birthday party, we were going to go home so I could sleep for a few hours before I had to go to work. We went home, but I didn’t really get to sleep; I got another page from work, and this time it really was something I had to log in and fix. Scott brought the kids over a friends’ house to sleep overnight, and I stayed home and fixed the problem. When he got back, I was finishing up, and we headed out of the house. It was my friend’s birthday (and no, I don’t know which one), and we met up with her, her husband, and a couple other close friends at a cute little Irish restaurant in Dallas. We had a good time for a while, but finally I had to go; and I left Scott with them, they would drive him home.

So here I am, sitting at work in the server room, waiting for these patches to finish installing. You know, videoblogging is fun; but, as you can see, there are just some stories you can’t tell with a camcorder. I’m learning slowly that both a blog and a vlog have their place for a working soccer mom.

Hurt toe.

I did this 3-day, 60-mile walk last June… so it was coming up on a year ago. My two big toe toenails have just grown back. You see, during the walk I got blisters underneath my big-toe toenails. If you want to know what that feels like, picture Sylvester hitting his finger with a hammer–and that red bong-bong-bong throbbing they show in the cartoon. That’s what my two toes felt like. Eventually the blisters went away, and my toenails fell off. When they grew back, one grew back fine–but one of them has been growing into my toe– also known as an ingrown toenail. It freaking HURTS! :( So I called today, and my doc referred me to a funky-toe-specialist, and I’m going to see that dude on Monday. In the meantime, I get to limp. Did I mention it hurts?

Lotsa footage.

Rainlin on the swings I took so many movies at SXSW… it’s amazing the amount of stuff I crammed into two days. Well, really, I crammed it into one day–I was being too freaking shy to take movies the first day. Imagine if I had taken movies both days…

Today’s video post is going to be about Jabba. He broke free from the clink today. I got with Markus, and he was nice enough to do a special into for me… which I’m thrilled about :D

It’s allowance day today–this is something new we started a couple months ago. Each Wednesday, the kids get an amount of money equivalent to their age–so Rain gets $7, and Dylan gets $5. We take that money to the bank, and they put it in their savings accounts–they fill out their little check-register and everything–I figure it’s good practice for them. Rain says she’s saving for a video ipod (that’s my girl!) and Dylan says he’s saving for a nintendo DS–a video game thingie. It will take them months and months to get there, but I’m hoping that all that waiting will make them appreciate them even more. We’ll see.

So far I’ve got two soccer teams lined up for team pictures… I’m going to be taking the team and individual shots, and selling the prints. I am so, so nervous–I hope I do okay. This is craziness!

A new location.

So here I am, changing around my blog again. So many people rave about Wordpress, I figured I’d give it a shot. This blog is still all friends-only, and there’s only two people who can log into it so far. I’ll be adding more as I have time, one at a time as I have time.

It’s been a long week, and it’s only Tuesday. I’m not going to get into a lot of details now, because I just want to get this posted, but let’s say that Saturday and Sunday were completely awesome, and Monday and Tuesday completely sucked big ass.

Have a nice day. Please drive through.
