Folks gone, and house closed.

Popop, Rainlin, and Luke Yesterday was Monday. My parents left town. We closed on our old house. As you can see and imagine, there’s been lots and lots going on.

I love it when Grammy and Popop come to visit. The kids love being around them, Scott loves being around them, and I love being around them. No matter what is going on, we seem to get so much done around the house while they are here. I guess it’s got to do with not only having an extra set of hands, but having a different point of view to look at things. We have beautiful new curtains all throughout our house, you can almost fit a car in the garage now, and Scott got the garage door opener installed. Needless to say, we got a shitload accomplished this week.

Our house is finally closed, our old one, but all is not completed. They were supposed to wire the funds to our checking account, and though they say it’s been done, I don’t see it there yet. Of course, I just need to stop hitting refresh on the bank web page, or I’m going to bring their server down.

Work is going good, and Scott’s work is going good, and that’s all I have to say about that.

Anyone played with Windows Vista yet?

And on this day…
2006… I’m blind! I’m blind!
2005… no post.
2004… Aww… Rainlin had her first ever soccer practice.
2003… Oh man, I dropped my cell phone in the toilet.
2002… Dylan got his winkie re-snipped.
2001… Ooh… Hannibal was coming out. Now, I can’t wait for Hannibal Rising to come out!

Family.

Neat present! My parents are in town. They have been since about a week ago. I wish they could stay forever; we always have so much fun with them around.

I had panicked when they called and said they were almost at our house; I hadn’t expected them for a couple more days, and the house was a mess! I picked up the kids from daycare, screamed home, and commenced barking GI party orders while cleaning the house myself. Scott skipped school that night to come home and help me as well. Apparently they stopped for dinner, giving us an extra blissful hour to clean the house. We were so thrilled when they arrived–it seems like ages since we’ve seen them!

Unfortunately, it snowed and iced over right after they arrived. Fortunately, it snowed and iced over right after they arrived. The kids had a snow day from school! Scott and I both worked from home, and we got to spend that entire day at home as a family. They were getting weary of not seeing the sun in a couple weeks though, and we were all happy to see sunshine on Sunday. We took a bike ride, got some ice cream, and just generally had a blast.

Now it’s Tuesday. We were supposed to close on our old house on Friday, but we still haven’t closed yet. This is driving me crazy! I just want to be done with all this house stuff. I REALLY wanted it to be today, but with it being almost 3pm now that seems like a pipe dream. So we are put off one… more… day.

And on this day…
2006… no post.
2005… hey, my parents were in town then too!
2004… Adam is WAY better than Billy.
2003… no post.
2002… I was going carbless.
2001… That friggin bitch. This was the day of “the final fight.”

Daily photos, and day off.

Taking a self portrait every day isn’t as easy as it sounds–at least not for me. I get home, finally relax on the couch after feeding and bathing the kids, and think… “I haven’t taken a photo yet!” Well, I don’t want to look like a redneck with every single photo of me in my pajamas, so like last night, I skipped. Bre told me though–if you miss a day, just take two the next–so maybe I’ll do that today.

I’m taking tomorrow off–a “comp day” for working half of last weekend. What will I do with the day? I’ll most likely spend it cleaning out the house and the garage. Tuesday is our bulk pickup day, so I want to get as much crap ready to put out there as I can.

And it would figure–my first weekday off in a long time–and for the first time in weeks–it rains.

And on this day…
2006… no post.
2005… my boss appreciates me.
2004… no post.
2003… Times Square is closed now. I miss that place.
2002… no post.
2001… The lonely bear story. I love this one!

iPhone… neat.

Had a friend send me a link to the Apple keynote this afternoon.  The new iPhone that will come out in June looks pretty snazzy.  At six hundred bucks, it’s going to be out of a lot of people’s price range, though… and I have to admit, though it’s purely flash, 8G in today’s ipod world doesn’t seem like a whole lot of memory.

We have a contract on our house, did I mention that?  We’re working on some issues from the home inspection, but it looks like we’ll close on the old house on or before January 26th.

My parents left Maine today.  They are driving their way to Ohio for a few days, then down to here for a few weeks.  I am so, so excited!  They haven’t seen the new house yet, and I hope they really love it.

Today is the longest day–the day that will never end.  Ugh!

Get back to work.

Daily Self Portrait - Wreath So I took a few weeks off from work, I took a few weeks off from blogging, and now I’m back. Five days into the year, and I’ve already broken my New Year’s resolution… somewhat. That was to take one new picture of myself each day this year–I’m always the one behind the camera, never in front of it. Well, yesterday, my first day back, I was here late, and was waiting to get a phone call to go back to work late, but never ended up going back in. Tonight I’ll be working late too.

The kids had an awesome vacation, and I had a blast with them. I missed them yesterday when I had to be here at work, alone, without them. At least it’s a short week, and tomorrow and Sunday are (hopefully) two more days off.
