Nick at night.
Tonight I had a chance to hang out with an old military friend. He’s in town to install a new phone system. He was in the army, I was in the Air Force. We met in Saudi Arabia, and we worked on the same computer system there. I always describe him to people as being like Max Headroom, both for his shiny head and for his defined type-A personality. We parked my car at his hotel (for free, woo hoo), he checked into his room and dropped his stuff off, we walked down to the West End, we had burgers and a drink, we talked about old times and new times. Then we walked back to the hotel, he got my car out of the garage for free with his room key (after driving in circles in the dumb garage trying to figure out how to get out), then he hopped out and headed back in the hotel (at least I think, I didn’t watch him), then I headed home. Now it’s almost eleven, and why aren’t I asleep yet? I miss my kids… I can’t wait until 6pm tomorrow when I get to hug them again.
