Nick at night.

Posted by Susan on Mar 31st, 2008

Tonight I had a chance to hang out with an old military friend. He’s in town to install a new phone system. He was in the army, I was in the Air Force. We met in Saudi Arabia, and we worked on the same computer system there. I always describe him to people as being like Max Headroom, both for his shiny head and for his defined type-A personality. We parked my car at his hotel (for free, woo hoo), he checked into his room and dropped his stuff off, we walked down to the West End, we had burgers and a drink, we talked about old times and new times. Then we walked back to the hotel, he got my car out of the garage for free with his room key (after driving in circles in the dumb garage trying to figure out how to get out), then he hopped out and headed back in the hotel (at least I think, I didn’t watch him), then I headed home. Now it’s almost eleven, and why aren’t I asleep yet? I miss my kids… I can’t wait until 6pm tomorrow when I get to hug them again.

Super cross-poster.

Posted by Susan on Mar 31st, 2008
All right, if you didn’t think I was a dork before…

- I take a picture and write a blog post from my i, then email it
via to Utterz.

- Utterz cross-posts it to my wordpress blog.

- My wordpress blog cross-posts it to Pownce.

- Twitterfeed picks it up from my Wordpress RSS feed and posts it to
Twitter.

- Facebook and Plaxo also use the RSS feed to post the new content to
their site.

Now for those of you who say hey, only post it in one place, I say
this… Read it once. If you see it twice, ignore it. How hard is that?

Mini pizzas, and sick again.

Posted by Susan on Mar 29th, 2008

We just made mini pizzas with English muffins, and the kids are having
fun watching them; but rainlin is sick again. She’s had a 100-102
fever for the past two days. It’s another weekend of cancelled soccer
games, cancelled church camera operations, and hour after hour of
sleeping. My poor baby Rain. I just want to see her happy again.

Another toaster oven dinner!

Posted by Susan on Mar 26th, 2008

We have had our toaster oven since I came back from sxsw. It rocks!!

We’re not the healthiest people on earth, but at least we have been
eating from home more… Here’s a little list of what we can remeber
that we’ve cooked in it so far:

Teriyaki chicken skewers
Pop tarts
Ham and meatballs
Corn dogs and French fries
Cornish game hens
Pizza
Brownies
Grilled ham and cheese
Chicken nuggets

So send us your recipes… And yes the healthier ones are welcome!
lol…

Not-So-Little Dylan.

Posted by Susan on Mar 25th, 2008

Dylan’s soccer team had a game tonight. They won, 1-0! That wasn’t the best part, though… Of course every parent is proud of their own child… But Dylan really got in there, and he even head-butted the ball! I was so proud of him! To celebrate, we grabbed an ice cream on the way home, and we also stopped and finally got him some red socks to wear.

My Dylan, he’s so quiet… I often have to get him to turn towards me or beg him to speak up… and ive thought, you know, he’s so quiet, I should make sure he’s not keeping everything inside, or feeling left out of things… so we made a big deal out of his game tonight. I looked to Rain, as if for approval; and she got it. She told him how great he played. She was right there on the sidelines cheering him on during the game, too.

My wonderful Rain. I feel like we are closer now than we have ever been.

Reading, and loving.

Posted by Susan on Mar 24th, 2008

My kids are home.

I hadn’t seen them since Thursday, and that seemed like an absolute
eternity, that five days. I cried more than once for reasons, once
again, that I won’t discuss. Just suffice to say that after yesterday,
the kids know the Easter bunny isn’t real.

We stopped at blockbuster and got movies, then we stopped at wal mart
for after Easter shopping, then we cooked little pizzas in the toaster
oven together, then we read together, and now it’s bedtime. Rain is so
stressed out after this weekend… All I can do is love her with every
ounce of my being.

I do that every day.
